Health and Safety Policy
1 RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY
1.2 Responsibilities of Directors
This company acknowledges it has a responsibilities,
as lies within its power, to prevent accidents and injuries occurring
to its employees whilst at work on site. To this end we will do
all we reasonably can to provide a safe and healthy working environment.
However, to achieve these aims we need the co-operation
of our employees, sub-contractors and customers.
We would ask therefore, that all employees and
sub-contractors work in such a way and manner that accident to themselves
and others will be prevented.
We would also ask that our customers provide us
with sufficient information to ensure that our operatives on site
are fully aware of all safety requirements and procedures whilst
on their site.
Accident prevention is the joint responsibility
of all groups concerned, from the customer through to the operative
carrying out the work. Therefore, co-operation and consultation
is essential.
Employees have a legal obligation to co-operate
on safety, health and welfare matters.
Our policy as of now is to continually monitor
health and safety, through contact with clients, accident prevention
organisations and safety meetings with staff within reason of the
scope of business that the company undertakes.
Where required we will ensure that adequate training
is given either on site or through specialist training companies,
regarding matters of health and safety.
1.3 Responsibilities of Employees
Before commencing work on any site, ensure that
you are familiar with the area you are working in and identify all
escape routes. Ensure that you are not exposing yourself or others
to any unnecessary risk.
1. Keep all working areas clean, tidy and clear
of hazards. Pay particular attention to fire escapes and walk ways.

2. Use the correct tools and equipment for the job, in the way they
are designed to be used. Where protective clothing or equipment
is required, please wear or use it.
3. Keep all tools and plant in good condition.
4. Report and hand in all defective plant and
equipment, do not use it.
5. Develop a concern for the health and safety
of yourself and others, especially trainees and passers by.
6. Avoid improvisation of tools, equipment, materials
and plant.
7. Be aware of the area that you are working in
and the hazards that could occur. Always advise people in the immediate
area of intentions to work within their area.
8. Refrain from horseplay and abuse of welfare
and safety facilities. It is also the responsibility of the employee
to refrain from working whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
9. Help in promoting health and safety at work
by suggestions and co-operation. Your failure in this matter may
result in an accident involving a work-mate or yourself.
10. Set a good example and remember safety is
common sense.
11. In the event of an accident, the following
procedure is to be followed:
1) Any necessary first aid or emergency procedure
that the sire requires to be carried out
2) Where possible, without causing risk to yourself
or others, the area is to be made safe
3) The office is to be contact and advised of
the situation
4) A full report must be written and sent to the
office within 24 hours. If being posted the letter should be sent
via recorded delivery

1.4 Responsibilities of Sub-contractors
1) As per all items outlined for employees.
2) You are directly responsible for complying
with the Factories Act 1961 and Construction regulations.
3) To be familiar with the Health and Safety policy
of this Company and that of any client sites you may visit on our
behalf.
4) If in doubt, ask.
2. ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION, REPORTING AND RECORDING
When an accident is being investigated the following
procedure should be used:
1) Establish what the planned event was.
2) Obtain details of the job being undertaken
at the time of the accident.
3) Obtain information from anybody who has been
injured or can give details about the damage caused.
3. FIRST AID, PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT
All sub-contractors should have available a first
aid kit.
All sub-contractors are to ensure that protective
clothing and equipment is used as and where required.
Safety helmets are to be worn on construction
sites and eye protection is required when drilling.
4. HAND AND POWER OPERATED TOOLS
All power tools, meters and plant used by the
sub-contractors to be tested once yearly.

Any power tools or meters supplied and used by employees whilst
on Company business will be tested free of charge once a year. However,
it is down to individuals to ensure that the Company is aware of
any tools/meters.
All sub-contractors are to ensure that necessary
test certificates apply to their tools, plant and equipment.
5. WORKING AT HEIGHTS
All work at height must be carried out within
the requirements laid down by the Construction (Working Places)
Regulations 1966.
If the work cannot be carried out safety from
the ground, then scaffolding or other suitable equipment must be
used.
Working platforms will be provided by the Company
where work cannot be carried out from steps or ladders safely.
All scaffolding including mobile towers must be
of sound construction and erected by a competent person.. Guide
lines for erecting portable towers will be given by the Company.
All plant related to wiring above ground level
will be inspected on a routine basis.
However, it is the responsibility of individuals
to report any deterioration of any equipment they are using.
6. FIRE PROCEDURE
The Company shall require of Customers whether
any special requirements concerning fire precautions are applicable,
and convey this information to all staff on site.
IN the case of fire, the following procedure is
to be followed:
1) Sound the alarm.
2) Follow the site fire procedure.
3) Try to extinguish the fire, but without risk
to yourself or others.

7. HOT WORKS
Before commencing hot works please ensure the
following:
1) Correct fire extinguisher is to hand.
2) All unnecessary combustible materials have
been removed from the area.
3) Adequate precautions have been taken to prevent
a fire starting and spreading.
4) No hot works are to be carried out within the
last half hour on site.
5) Once work is completed, the area is to be checked.
8. TRANSPORT
All vehicles moving on site must travel at a safety
speed and adhere to any speed, limits or route restrictions as may
be imposed by the Customer.
