The renovation of a Manchester commercial area has begun, with the aim of attracting new companies to the site.

The four building Towers Business Estate is said to be much favoured in the local area, where it offers a desired location and amenities for firms. Spread over 20-acres, the site is already well tenanted, with major companies being attracted to the business space on offer.

Indicative of this is a recent deal with a large US tech firm, the Oracle Corporation.

The first structure to take part in the £1.8m full office fit out office fit out is the 8,080 square foot Spectrum House. The next one to be tackled will be Honeywell, followed shortly after by Kingston building.

With open plan office partitioning office partitioning creating modern spaces in the development, the works have been scheduled to coincide with a growing demand in the business park sector. According to a study by surveyors GVA, Manchester has seen a significant number of firms opening offices in the area. The company’s spokesperson, David Thwaites, said:

“The imminent lettings to Emirates and Costain at Manchester Business Park following on from the successes last year at Cheadle Royal and Birchwood Park demonstrate that demand remains for strategically located business parks…”

According to the commercial property advisor, last year saw the demand for space on office floors in well-appointed business parks increase by 20%; more than the average in the preceding five years.

The surveyor went on to say that he was concerned by the lack of good business park spaces in south Manchester, highlighting the possibility that companies could instead look elsewhere.
